Hunter Region

Circa 160km or about 2hrs north of Sydney,  the Hunter region is known to be the wine region of NSW.  Many visit the region on a day trip, but certainly not advisable if you plan to wine taste and plan on driving. Hunter offers some cosy accommodation to suit any budget. Therefore a 2-3 day visit is well worth it. The region is famous for producing the world’s best Semillon and Australia’s best shiraz. More than 100 wineries and cellar doors are spread out through the Hunter Valley region. Most of the wineries are open to the public daily and tours of the winery and wine tasting can be arranged by contacting the wineries direct. Hunter is Australia’s oldest commercial wine producing area, beginning wine production in the 1830s.
The region has a vibrant food culture to compliment the beautiful wines of the region. A vast variety of tasty cheeses, smokehouse goods, handmade chocolates (even chocolate tasting) will pleasure your taste buds. The Hunter region is abundant with beautiful cafes and restaurants which offer a variety of sumptuous menus for your enjoyment.
Apart from all the irresistible food and wine, you will also find plenty of other activities to keep you entertained while you are in the Hunter region. You can undertake organised or self explored treks and tours, visit the beautiful art galleries, play a game of golf or get pampered at one of the beautiful spas in the region.
Visit to the Hunter region will be an unforgettable experience.
