Holidays in South Australia – Our Festival State. The article first appeared in http://www.ozehols.com.au/blog/south-australia/holidays-in-south-australia-our-festival-state/

Adelaide accommodation ideal base for you to explore South Australia while on holiday
Above Adelaide City in the night.

Statistically South Australia is known as the driest state in Australia with two thirds of the land mass being a near desert and 83% of the state receiving an annual rainfall of less than 250 millimetres.  You wonder whether the statistics are real when you visit the beautiful Flinders Ranges and the lush Barossa Valley.

South Australia is the home to Olympic Dam which is one of the world’s biggest copper mines and may be the biggest Uranium mine too. South Australia also mines most of the world’s opals.  Coober Pedy the most popular opal mining town in Australia produces almost 85% of Australia’s opals. The coastal fringe of South Australia enjoys mild summers and mild winters. Further you travel to the north, the temperature becomes hotter and climate inhospitable.

Majority of the population in South Australia lives in Adelaide the capital city of South Australia.  If you visit Adelaide, it is hard to miss the Mount Lofty Ranges which provide a beautiful back drop to the capital city Adelaide.

South Australia hosts many festivals through the year and is a truly fascinating place to visit when one of the festivals are on. The Adelaide Festival of Arts, The Barossa Valley Vintage Festival, The Greek Glendi Festival, Cornish Kernewek Lowender, Schutzenfest are just to name a few.

Enjoy Sydney. book a Sydney holiday accommodation, Sydney hotel, by OzeHols
Sydney city is a cosmopolitan, subtropical paradise city set around bays and inlets of Port Jackson extending north and south along the coast. The foreshore of 250 kilometres is frilled with white sandy beaches, sheltered coves and some of the most amazing surf beaches where the mild climate is suitable to swim or surf any time of the year.  While beautiful Sydney city lies majestically on the shores of the harbour, the harbour is bustling any time of the day and night with commuter ferries, jetcats, massive container ships and visiting luxury liners.  Sydney siders are immensely proud of their harbour city and the water which surrounds them has a massive impact on their easy going, casual but yet sophisticated lifestyle.  Sydney is a beautiful holiday destination and an amazing playground for the young and old. There is so much to see, things to do and if you are a shopper, you can shop till you drop. If looking for accommodation, Sydney accommodation including Sydney serviced apartments, Sydney hotels and Sydney short term accommodation such as Sydney holiday homes are in abundance.

In spring and summer months the beautiful beaches are packed with swimmers, surfers and those who just want to chill out and have a picnic by the water. At weekends the sailing boats, yachts, speed boats all join the harbour traffic. If you come to circular Quay you will gather that it is the nucleus of a network of ferry services which links Sydney City to waterfront suburbs such as Manly, Mosman, Neutral Bay, Balmain and Parramatta as well as taking you to Taronga Zoo and Darling Harbour.  Sydney harbour is also the starting point for the famous Sydney to Hobart Yacht race which commences on Boxing Day each year.

For those who enjoy fishing, note that the Middle harbour is the fishing and boating haven. The well known beaches along the north shore of Port Jackson are; Chowder Bay, Neutral Bay, Mosman Bay and Chinamans Beach. The southern foreshore is landscaped with almost 100 hectares of parkland in the Domain and Royal Botanic gardens. You will notice that city folk flock to these gardens during the lunch break for a quiet time or for some relaxation.

Sydney also boasts circa 34 surf beaches where many are patrolled by volunteer lifesavers.  Some of the well known surf beaches are Palm Beach, Manly, Bondi, Coogee, Cronulla, Clovelly, Tamarama and Bronte. If you are a nude bather you are not left out either. The secluded beaches of Lady Jane and Reef beaches are for you to swim and play. While it is not advisable to swim in the harbour you should also take note of the warning flags on the beach which indicates safe swimming areas and also warn you of other swimming hazards at a given point of time.

What are you waiting for? Come along and book one of the holiday accommodation in Sydney or an accommodation in Sydney CBD to experience a memorable holiday in spectacular Sydney.

Main attractions in Taranna are the Tasmanian Devil Park, a cluster of accommodation of various types, and the Federation Chocolate outlet. It is known that Taranna was the terminus for a railway which ran between the jetty at Little Norfolk Bay and the prison during the height of the Port Arthur prison.  This railway saved the ships the hazardous journey around Cape Raoul and enabled the passengers and the supplies unloaded in Norfolk Bay to be transported by Rail. The railway itself has a place in Australian history known to be the first railway in Australia.
