From Sydney, the Blue Mountains and Katoomba are not so far away. May
be the journey does not exceed 110 km but have you wondered what else
should you do and where else should you stop on your way up to the
mountains? Well, we have discovered Penrith for you. Though it was a
sleepy town a century and a half ago, with the increase in population in
greater Sydney, many have discovered Penrith as their home.
What can you expect to do while you stopover in Penrith?
- Have a look at the various Olympic venues set up for the Sydney 2000 Olympics. The Regatta Centre with white water rafting and the venue for the championship rowing will obviously thrill you.
- Have a go at the “Aqua Golf” near the Penrith Panthers Stadium.
- Have a look at the Musuem of Fire in Castlereagh st.
- Take a scenic ride on the Napean Belle Paddle Boat which cruises the Napean Gorge.
- Travel to south Penrith if you want to visit a winery. Here you will be able to visit Vicary’s Winery.
- Head to Emu Plains to check out the exhibits at the Penrith Regional Art Gallery.
- Close by is the Featherdale Wild Life Park. Young
and the old will enjoy the sheep sheering, rounding of cattle and sheep
by cattle dogs, damper making and many other fun activities on the
agenda to keep visitors wanting to come back.
