    head 42km from Perth on Great Eastern Hwy to reach this area scattered
    with pretty picnic areas. This water catchment area provides water to
    the goldfields area and a visit to nearby O’Connor Museum will explain the operations and the construction of this complex scheme.  When you are here, visit the nearby Kalamunda History Village.
  • Walyunga National Park:
    Avon River flows through this beautiful bushland national park which
    could be reached from Perth by travelling circa 35km via Guilford road
    and the Great Northern Hwy.  Come during spring for a spectacular
    display of wild flowers. There are walking trails and picnic spots for
    you to spend a leisurely day here. Come in August and you will be able
    to participate in Avon Descent the major white water canoeing event held in WA.
