The subtropical city of Brisbane is the capital of Queensland. From the lookout at  Mount Coot-tha, 8km south west of Brisbane you can see a layout of Brisbane city. Northcliffe Outrigger Canoe Club is thrilled to host the 16th annual Gold Coast Cup. The longest outrigger canoe race in Australia, the 43 kilometre event is one of the highlights on the global calendar. Top paddlers from around the world will descend on the Gold Coast for this year's exciting race.
The Gold Coast Cup course is one of the best you'll find anywhere. Crews line up off Greenmount Beach and race in an easterly direction before doubling back through the start line and continuing north along the spectacular Gold Coast coastline. 2012 also sees a second day of racing incorporating a six man short course and one and two man single outriggers. A great event !
