The white volcanic sand and aquamarine waters of Port Stephens offer the beach a tropical look. Less than an hour drive from Sydney, this region has become a very popular holiday destination of the central coast. This deep water port is two and a half times the size of Sydney harbour and surrounded by two volcanic headlands, sandy beaches and lush green bushland.

The deep waters are ideal for boating, underwater diving and fishing. You could hire anything from a bicycle to a motor boat while you are in Port Stephens. Tour operators offer popular dolphin cruises and many site seeing charter cruises. Port Stephens offers some well known cafes and restaurants and comfortable accommodation.

If you are the adventurous type, then hit the 30km long Stockton Beach, where you can take a 4WD tour. You could also ride quad bikes or enjoy horse riding. The area is popular for its large coastal sand dune system.
