Covering roughly one third of the land mass of the continent, Western Australia is the largest state in Australia.  For the traveller who loves to explore, the contrast in scenery is just amazing . While the south west region of WA can be easily and pleasantly covered on a motoring trip, better planning needs to be done when thinking of touring the unique north and the north east region by motor vehicle.  If the distances between your chosen destinations are long, you might as well break journey in one of the holiday accommodation in Western Australia during the journey.

The capital Perth is the first non-convict settlement in Australia. Perth is one of the most beautiful and liveable cities in Australia set along the stunning Swan river (home of the black swan). Perth offers mild winters and mild summers and is a fascinating city to be explored and offers many beautiful beaches for all year round swimming and surfing.  Perth being a popular holiday destination offer a variety of Perth holiday rentals and even holiday accommodation in Perth City are plenty.

The south west region of WA can be easily described as the garden of West Australia. You will be able to witness hardwood trees, massive Jarrah forests and beautiful wild flowers in bloom from September to November.  Amazing surf beaches and panoramic coastal views add to the attraction. The popular destinations in the south west region are Margaret River, Busselton, Yallingup and Albany. The fertile and lush Margaret River region is world famous for wines and not to be missed when you visit WA.

About 424 km north of Perth is the coastal town of Geraldton famous for Cray fish. From Perth to Geraldton is a lovely drive between August and October where you can marvel the many wild flowers along the roadside.  Kalbarri National Park further north will give you the opportunity to witness more beautiful wild flowers as well as breathtaking coastal gorges and cliffs. The coast along Geraldton is famous for fishing and for coral reefs.  If you want to see wild dolphins which swim close to the shore to be fed, you need to visit Monkey Mia in Shark bay.
