It is known that Wasgamuwa National Park was declared as a Nature Reserve as far back as the late 1930’s. It is located in Polonnaruwa and Matale districts and frilled by the giant Mahaweli Ganga (Mahaweli river) and Amban river. Home to numerous numbers and varieties of flora and fauna, the Wasgamuwa National Park expands across a massive circa 36,950 hectares.
