Picnic in Seal Rocks

Picnic in Seal Rocks. article published in www.ozehols.com.au, http://www.ozehols.com.au/blog/new-south-wales/picnic-in-seal-rocks/

Seal rocks, an amazing coastal holiday suburb in mid north coast of New South Wales lies about 3hrs north of Sydney and circa 20 minutes south of Smiths Lake. The main attractions in Seal Rocks are the beautiful beaches and The Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse which is also known as the Seal Rocks lighthouse.
The sea beneath the light house is treacherous and caused 20 ship wrecks since the inception of the lighthouse in 1875. The loss of the “Catterthun” in 1879 resulted in 55 lives being lost in the oceans at Seal Rocks and is known as Australia’s most tragic shipping disaster.
The Seal Rocks reserve is open to public from sunrise to sunset. On your walk uphill to the Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse, you will see an spectacular natural ocean gorge. When you get to the lighthouse, there is a lookout with breathtaking panoramic coastal views.
Though the sea beneath the lighthouse is rough and dangerous, the swimming beaches close to the holiday accommodation are patronised by many holiday makers.
Several Seal Rocks accommodation options are offered by OzeHols including the Seal Rocks Holiday Park. You could even stay in one of the Smiths Lake accommodation offered by OzeHols and explore Seal Rocks during the day.
