Your Chance To Explore Historical Battery Point

Your Chance To Explore Historical Battery Point. The information first appeared in www.ozehols.com.au, http://www.ozehols.com.au/holiday-accommodation/tasmania/south/battery-point

Known to be the most historic township in Hobart area, Battery Point is a short walk from Salamanca Place and the waterfront via Kelly’s Steps. Battery Point had its beginnings as a residential township for marine workers in Hobart town. Today it still maintains its residential characteristics as well as telltale signs of a Cornish fishing village. When in Battery Point you will observe a ring of old cottages surrounding the old village green at the heart of Battery Point which is known amongst the locals as the Arthurs Circus. Battery Point has many tearooms, restaurants, fine antique shops and plenty of pubs and when in Battery Point you must visit the Colonial Museum (which exhibits items from everyday 19th century life, from dresses to parasols and china), St. George’s Anglican Church (1836), which sits atop the hill in Battery Point and visible from other surrounding suburbs in Hobart. Most homes in Battery Point are classified by the National Trust and on Saturday mornings you will be able to join a walking tour of the area.

We invite you to visit the historic Battery Point and stay in one of the Battery Point accommodation  or accommodation in Hobart CBD and explore the region.
